UNIVERSAL STUDIOS – NEW YORK AND MIAMI
Mauricio Gerson joined Universal Studios in New York in March, 1994 and worked for the studios until April, 2002 as Vice President and Managing Director. As head of USA Networks Latin America, he was responsible for all aspects related to the management of the Network since its inception. He launched USA Network Latin America in April 1994 and USA Brasil in May 1996. USA and/or Universal Sudios Latin America have been distributed through 27 countries in Latin America and Brazil. During his tenure Mauricio was sent from New York City to Miami to open the new headquarters of USA Networks where he increased revenue to over 30 million dollars per year in a highly competitive and somewhat unstable market. He achieved the second largest penetration of all channels in the region. Together with Discovery and Turner Broadcasting network he developed “TAP – Television Association of Programmers” where he also served as President for several years. In 1998 he received the Ground Braker Award for Innovation in Advertising from Multichannel News International.
